Ice Warriors

To be honest…I’m too young to seriously recognize Kool Keith as someone classic blah blah BUT fortunately there are people who aren’t afraid of educating people like me. Tob sent me an email promoting his “Ice Warriors” project with Kool Keith on it. I think the video (above) speaks for itself. Free download:

Jimbo Matsumoto on “The Beat Tape Vol.2″ (compilation) by Rapohnelizenz

My friend Jimbo Matsumoto is on that new beat tape by german blog and influencer rapohnelizenz! He was on the Mad Hop tape before and there is more in the pipeline. If you are in Germany you have the chance to see him performing live (raw MPC action!) in Duisburg at “TRUE LEGENDS SPECIAL “DOUBLE TROUBLE” (April 29, Djäzz) with fLako and others.

Evidence – I Don’t Need Love (Beatles Mashup tape)

Evidence published a full The Beatles-Evidence-mashup-mixtape like thing after some tracks of it already got leaked. Actually it was supposed to drop on EV’s birthday. It’s really funny, his flow on these tracks might be a foretaste for the upcoming album “Cats & Dogs” (Rhymesayers Ent.). Listen to an example track right here:

Talib Kweli & Year Of The Blacksmith: The Community Mixtape

In my opinion, Kweli’s Year Of The Blacksmith is the most interesting rap label and distributor at the moment along with Stones Throw, Decon and Rhymesayers. They got Jean Grae, Strong Arm Steady, Talib Kweli himself and so on and a huge network of great artists and a huge fan community spread all over the world. Every production on this mixtape was submitted by a community member of Year Of The Blacksmith. Somebody came up with the idea of letting the people submit beats and stuff so Kweli could pick the cream to rap and let rap over these beats. Great idea and a true symbol for the power of the internet if it’s used the right way. Majors still don’t get it.
Now they released a community project right before the releases of Jean Grae’s and Kweli’s solo projects. It has 31 tracks mixed by Mick Boogie. If you are into quality rap, check it out.
