Soosh and Memotone teamed up for this collaborative track. “Memoosh” combines the typical atmospherical feel of Memotone tracks with Soosh’s natural drum replacements and vocals. The original animation used in the video was created by Ryan Larkin, “Walking”. Beautiful! You can get Soosh’s “Soosh EP” at iTunes. Memotone released his “Multicolour EP” earlier this year. It has that 8bit-sound which was very popular early 2011, I hope for a fresh release in the near future though. Wørd!

Time for the Sunday afternoon cartoon!

Im in Antwerp (Belgium) at the moment for an one-month internship at Design is Dead after I had the chance to work with Joscha aka dip some last month, the guy behind UpMyAlley which is one of my favorite independent labels. Exciting times but no posts on SAY WORD. I basically ignored new music over the last weeks. I listen to the good shit in my iTunes library, mostly old Illa J, Dom Kennedy, Flako, Big L and I feel like 9 again since Limp Bizkit (yap…) released a new album. It’s really really bad but on the other hand it’s awesome because it feels like 2000!
Long story short, I want to change SAY WORD, don’t know if it needs more than another iteration though. In the meanwhile I have a Remix by Suff Daddy for you. Enjoy your week, I do.

Didn’t hear one bad track by Dom since I discovered his music through “Watermelon Sundae” years ago. I don’t know if he actually gets paid in any way for the music itself but one thing is for sure: If Dom Kennedy releases an album, I will buy at least five of them for me plus 5 from iTunes plus 5 from amazon mp3 which makes 15 plus 5 for my mom and 5 for my neighbor plus 5 to put them in that next fucking German BestBuy CD shelf. Five is the number of “albums” in my iTunes library that I feel he should have been paid for but of course he puts out everything for free. Oddisee (well, different audience but still music…) did it the same way with his crew Diamond District and some of his instrumental projects and ended up selling them all over the world and going on tour and so on. So this is why Dom is so important to me: Dom is about pursuing dreams, doing what he loves to do, going the hard way and just crushing it whatever people might say or write. I can’t wait for the next project which will be “From The Westside, With Love 2″ I guess. I’m a fan of Mar from Amsterdam, I saw him performing live several times here in Cologne (Germany). Oddisee is one of my favorite producers and the only one who can make awesome beats AND rap without being lyrically meaningless. Now guess who teamed up. The beat is from Oddisee’s “Traveling Man” album and Mar did a great job with the vocals, love it. I would love to see some more collaboration or even an album or whatever. It’s the fucking internet, use it to create something good and collaborate like they did! Oddisee is the prototype of independent and globalized music, get it!

Relaxation. The reason for my inactivity is basically my deep involvement in the relaunch process of a german blog called Mondkultur (mondkultur.net, 900+ facebook fans and stuff). I do all the design and development stuff so there was and actually still is a lot to do. Word.
